What we did
Rykon came to us with a few, very common concerns, all of which related to dated design. It happens very often and thankfully it’s not that painful of a fix. We started by tweaking their logo just ever so slightly. Logo approved. Next step? Website of course. The old site was not only dated in framework and imagery, but we needed to spend some time on the overall navigation of the site and how clients would use it. The result is a modern, architectural wonder that shows off the amazing imagery shot by some of the valley’s leading photogs. It’s hard to look at this website and not dream about your next home, built by Rykon.
Delivered
Logo
We were given the tricky task of updating the long established Rykon Construction logo. When we discussed the logo it was determined that it wasn’t a total overhaul that was required but rather a slight makeover. We took the logo, stripped the color from it and added angled dimension to give it a new look and feel. We also included a cleaner word mark to accompany the new logo mark.
Planning
We worked with Bill, the marketing director at Rykon, to dial in the categories necessary in the website before we even took a look at the design. We vigorously, audited the old site, assessed the competition both locally and regionally and came up with a game plan for the new site. We added in a bit of new copy and scoured through the archives to select stunning imagery to show off the busiest builder in the Okanagan.
Wordpress CMS
Once we had an approval on the black and white graphic design for the website we moved into development mode. Once again we chose to overlay the design on the WordPress framework for maximum flexibility and longevity for the client. The result we achieved was one that enables the client and third parties such as real estate agents to change specific areas of the site intended for their eyes only. The site incorporates a great photo gallery where they can easily swap pictures in and out to show off these amazing custom homes.
